Agricultural Resource: Being well-known for the harvest of quality paddy rice, peanut, rakkyo, waternut, animal products and aquatic products, Xinjian has basically accomplished the construction of a series of agricultural bases, 133.340 million sq.m.’s quality rice base, 66.670 million sq.m.’s rakkyo base, 66.670 million sq.m.’s aquatic product base,40,002 million sq.m.’s flower and fruit base, 10-million waterfowl base as well as cow, oil tea, pearl and pure-natural nuisance-free vegetables, etc.. Around the reliable water over 606.697 million sq.m. in total, culturing 100 kinds of fishes, such as whitebait, tylosurus gigantens, culter erthropterus, silver catfish and cristaria plicata, etc.
Forest Recouce: The total wooded area of the county is 34.2million sq.m., the forest cover rate is 24.9%, total stock for living trees is 725 thousand cu.m.. The natural vegetation, leaded by firs, pines and Camilla family broad leaved evergreen forest, contains Grade 1 Protected Rare Species metasequoia, Grade II protected species maiden hair tree and eucommia and some 230 kinds of Grade Three protected species. The main forest specialties are wood naval stoes, pasania fungus, wild bamboo speot, oiltea camellia seeds and bancoul nuts, etc. Moreover, there are rich kinds of wild animals and vegetables. Among the detected some 30 species of wild animals, 8 species such as swan, wild goose, wigeon and river deer are listed as national protected plan. There are over 100 kinds of wild herbal plants, 20 kinds of il plants and aroma plants, 15 kinds of plants specially for crafts. The most economic-beneficial products are chaste tree fruit, gardenia jasminoides seeds, Chinese goosebeery, gordon Euryale Seed, Chinese sapium seed, etc., over 30 kinds of plants are national-protected rare species.
Water Power Resource: The county has vast potention in water resource development. Its ave. annual precipitation is about 3500million cu.m.,; the annual direct runoff rate is 1437million cu.m.; the ground water runoff is 91 million cu.m.; the whole-year total water resource is 1531million cu.m.. Additionally, there’s also 170million cu.m. passing direct runoff rate, 33000million cu.m. passing streamflow. By far, our utilization rate of surface water is 32.6%; ground water utilization rate is 5.0%; stream flow utilization rate is 0.91%. In the county, a water works with 120-thousand-ton daily capacity that sources from River Ganjiang is serving above national standard. One 220kV and three 110kV substations ensures the sufficient power supply.
Labor Resource: The total population of the county is 680thousand. The components are 318.8 thousand labor resource; 250.6 thousand rural labor, including 135thousand actual plantation workers, 37.1thousand workers in private or rural enterprises, 39.5 thousand workers out of the county and 39thousand idle labors; Among the 68.3thousand urban labors, 42.6 thousand of people is employed, 15 thousand is out for works, the rest 10.6 thousand of people is unemployed.
Land Resources: The total land area of the county is 2338sq.km., in which, there are 506.692 million sq.m.’ s plowland, about 760.038sq.m. per capita; the undeveloped cultivatable area is 90.0045 million sq.m., the forest-plantable fell area is 36.002 million sq.m., and the eyot 280.014 million sq.m.. The total planed area for industrial zone is 40 sq.km.. The initiated belt for the zone has been fulfilled by enterprises. The construction for the 11.5sq.km.’s new zone has been launched. The using-right taken-over price for the land of the zone is RMB60.0/sq.m.
Mineral Resources: Now there’re 61 detected mines and mineralized points. Among which,there21 metal mines, 35 non-metal mines. 18 kinds of mines are basically detected. Those are---- Metallic mines: gold, alluvial gold, cobalt, copper and titanium, etc. The nonmetallic mines are diabase, quartzite, granite, red stone , pot clay, dolostone, lime stone , sand and cobble, clay for building, etc. The rich kinds of mineral resources are of reasonable combination with large stock and high quality of main commodity and rich amount of nonmetallic ores. Especially the sand, brick clay, decorating stones, quartzite stones, limestone and mineral water has big potential and value in development
Tourist Resource: Xinjian has long history, sterilizing land, rich natural and talent resources. There’s some 30 artificial and natural scenic spots. Such are 8 scalized ones, patriotism education base Xiaoping Path, origin place of Jingming Branch of Taoism Mt. Xishan Wanshou Palace, Houtian Desert (the biggest southern desert), Xiangshan Forest Park (the largest heron habitat), Wangshan Tuku (small imperial court in south China), Ji Island, Mt. Meng and Xixia Scenic Spot(world-class wetland conservation area),etc.. There’s also undeveloped scenic spots such as Zhuquan Tomb and Anfeng Peak,etc..
